Firstly, a huge massive thank you to Kerry & Elizabeth to organising a fantastic night! So much laughter and dancing was had, and I can't wait for Twixmas party 2024!
So many lovely touches to the evening to really make it wonder, from a raffle, with all attendees names in the hat for prizes . The majority of the raffle winners were mainly from two tables (fix :D) with lots of running pieces to be won and the lucky dip on entry had more running essentials for all the party attendees. With the spare money that was left over, we had tokens where we could choose where to donate the left overs, split between our chosen Breast Cancer charity and the local food banks. These extra touches were so thoughtful.
We made the decision to move the Runner of the year, Beginner of the year and Coach/Leader of the year awards to the Twixmas party so there could be more of a celebration around them.To go alongside these the events team created some fun lighthearted awards to give out too. Congratulations to everyone!
Below are all our fantastic winners!
Beginner Of the Year
Beginner of the year is chosen by the coaches that lead the beginner courses throughout the year.
The Beginner of the year this year was part of the Janaury 2023 course, on some occasions she was the only beginner to attend the run, she completed the whole course and now regularly runs club runs and took part in the RR10’s over the summer as well as taking part in regular races. Unfortunately she's not with us here tonight, so surprise for another day!
Fantastic achievement and progress from our Beginner of the Year: Olivia Lin.
Leader/Coach of the year
There were three nominations from which an overall winner was chosen.
Words used were, dedicated, always steps up, knowledgeable, welcoming, friendly and supportive.
The winner this year always goes above and beyond, makes sure sessions are planned with leaders, leads track sessions and club runs, hosts socials in her house and this year organised the training weekend in the New Forest. Also, she is unfortunately for us, retiring as a coach in the new year but will be remaining as a very knowledgeable and supportive club member. But you won’t have to listen when she’s telling you to use your arms :D!
Congratulations, to this years Coach of the year: Sue Wilton.
Runner of the year
18 different sisters were nominated from across a range of club runs. Common words used to describe these sisters were: Incredible, Supportive, dedication, positive, fabulous, ambassador, generous, welcoming, enthusiastic, friendly, fantastic, smashed goals, progressed
The final count took it down to two members with just two votes separating them.
I’d like to give the runner up a massive round of applause as she has been a sensational runner this year, leading, coaching and running for the club while also completing her amazing marathon challenge, so please, a round of applause for the runner up Eileen.
